Myofascial Release
Fascia is the whole matrix of flexible connective tissue that envelops, separates and protects our muscles and organs. It is essential to the balance of stability and flexibility in our bodies, enabling dynamic movement. It is also the "breathable" layer of tissue that allows blood to move to and nourish the muscles. In a state of dysfunction, fascia can severely restrict range of motion and conduct sharp pain signals that keep our bodies in a cycle of dysfunctional movement.
The intention of myofascial massage is to restore communication between the muscle, fascia and nerves, “reminding” the body of how it can move and disrupting inhibitory nerve signals through slow, intentional touch, cupping massage, frictions and trigger point work.

While some of the same techniques are used in both massages, myofascial release is focused on more global, superficial tissue. More time is spent frictioning and stretching the superficial fascia to bring mobility to the layer of tissue that protects and stabilizes your muscles.

Do not get a massage treatment if you are taking blood thinners or anticoagulants, have an active infection, or have any areas of broken skin or a rash. If you have any concerns it is always best to get a doctor’s clearance before getting a massage.
